Configuration and installation SNMP v3 with HP

Configuring HP printer or MFP

1

Log in to the MFP's Web Interface with administrator rights.

Go to Networking Tab > Network Setting > SNMP section

2

Configure MFP's as follows:

  • Disable SNMP v1/v2

  • Enable SNMP v3 option

  • Set User name

  • Set Authentication Key

  • Set Privacy Key

Please note that HP devices are not able to generate Authentication key and Privacy key by them self. Web interface of HP device expects that these keys will be generated as localized keys. To generate the localized key please contact HP support to get a tool that will generate the localized key for you. The localized key is based on the MAC address of the HP device and password specified by you. Therefore the localized key is different for every device. Once you create the localized key for DES encryption using for example password 123456789 you can enter this localized key to both Authentication Key and Privacy key fields.
